Since iRise's initial target market is BA's, I've spent a lot of time trying to understand them, their tools and processes. Like anything else, BA vary quite a bit from Word BA's to ones that want to do photoshop and Java. In then end, what needs to happen is to bridge the communication gap. Old school processes involved BA's talking to Dev. That's like A to C. ID's introduce a "B" in the equation that help make the leap smaller.

There are many ways to bridge the communication gap, visualization seams to be the most effective. We may not speak the same lingo, but we all understand a drawing of a smiling face. As Jon mentioned, prototyping is an excellent option. You can even go lower to help make the cycles smaller. So sketch out the ideas. The BA spews out some stuff and you sketch it out, "is this what you mean?". And don't be afraid of handing her (I say her because out persona for BA's is Alicia Analyst) the pencil or any other tool. She won't be taking your job no matter how hard she tries.

Don't worry, you will see the light. (Sorry i just couldn't hold back ;)
