"perhaps we do 10 min at each table next time."
"Great idea for a meeting, but we needed more like 10 minutes on each topic."

"I'm new to this realm and particularly interested in ID. There seem to be so many experienced people at this Meetup and I'd like to hear short presentations on a particular aspect of their jobs."
"The Tools of the UX Trade Meetup was a well-organized and attended event. The "speed dating" format was a great way of starting discussions on ways to design and frame what "design" can be about. Meeting professionals from all levels of the IA field was a good way to bond and develop professional relationships: fostering a community of support. And Big Kudos to "coach" Weston - for running the show and redefining what a 'whistle-blower ' is..."
"Great people. Interesting, engaging topics."
"It's a great place to interface with about 80 other minds."
"I enjoyed this as a networking event and a place to meet others. The speed dating approach was good because it lent structure. The 10 topics on the tables were a little goofy, but in some cases they did provide a starting point for conversation. Thanks to Weston for organizing and to the LA Times interactive folks for hosting!"
"Great way to learn best practices from the experts out in the field. I learned a lot."
"This group's organizers are very supportive and are enthusiastic about letting members contribute in any way they like. If you have an idea, it's easy to get everyone else thinking about it."
"It was my first meetup and I really enjoyed iRise demo, food and people there. Thanks to all organizers!"
"It was my first meeting and I found it a very enjoyable and informative group of people."
"There are truly some great people who make up the group."
"Keeping up the 1/month meetings will be great. I'm looking forward to future meet ups."
"I highly recommend. Great smart nice crowd."
"Keep up the great work!"
"It rocks!"
Basically, I'm sick and tired of not having a thriving community of UX people in Southern California. I suppose it's typical Bay Area / New York envy. They have communities that meet regularly why can't we?
I've been a hiring manager at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online for the last three years , so I have a good idea of how many of us are out there -- NOT ENOUGH.
I'm not motivated enough to become active in SIG-CHI-LA, or IAI, or UXNet, or IXDA, or SIG-IA, or UPA or STC etc etc. But I am motivated enough to spend 10 bucks a month on a Meetup group where most of the work is done for me!!
So, as I hear about events, I'll post them here.
If you hear about an event, email me via this group, or at chris period chandler at gmail period com and I'll post it to this group.
I want this to be the year Southern California gets a real community.
